On 3 February 2011, a Matrix Recovery Service client was contacted as the National Operations Centre received a panic alarm from the Matrix unit in their Toyota Quantum. The client immediately contacted his depot to assess the situation. On assessment it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle had been held up and the vehicle was hijacked in the Pretoria CBD area.
Matrix Recovery Service was requested to dispatch ground and air immediately, while a lookout was placed with the SAPS Flying Squad. The Toyota Quantum was positioning in Randburg North, and remained stationary for the full course of the recovery. Matrix Recovery Service recovered the vehicle at 14:30 in Randburg North and confirmed a good beacon signal. Matrix Recovery Service stood down, after handing the vehicle over to a member of the SAPS.
