Suspect got away after hijacking car, car recovered by Matrix Recovery Services

A call came through on the hijack line of the MiX Telematics National Operations Centre that a vehicle was hijacked in Alexandra. There were not many details available.
The Matrix Recovery Services helicopter quickly had a visual of the vehicle and the police was called in for back-up during the recovery process. The suspect then proceeded to shoot at the police who returned fire and suspected that they wounded the suspect as he ran away from the vehicle. The police followed the suspect but could not find the suspect in the dark. The vehicle was handed over to the Alexandra police for further investigation into the hijacking incident.
