TWO SUSPECTS SHOT IN HIGH SPEED CHASE

After a high speed chase with suspects and Matrix Vehicle Tracking’s recovery teams last night, a shoot out between SAPS and robbery suspects in Pretoria has left one suspect dead and another wounded.

The incident followed a housebreaking and robbery in Acacia in Pretoria where suspects made off with the owner’s Mercedes E200, 10 cell phones and a television at almost midnight last night. The vehicle was fitted with a Matrix Vehicle Tracking unit.

Matrix Vehicle Tracking’s National Operations Centre was quickly alerted resulting in a high speed chase immediately after the vehicle was PinPointed as positioning in Soshanguve.

Matrix Vehicle Tracking’s communication officer, Hannelie Snow confirmed SAPS were called in to assist with the high speed chase after the Matrix Vehicle Tracking recovery team’s vehicle was pushed off the road. Just after this, the suspect driving the stolen vehicle lost control of the stolen vehicle and drove into a wall.

As the suspects exited the vehicle and tried to jump over a wall to get away from the SAPS, the SAPS noticed the driver of the vehicle had a gun in his hand. A shoot out followed between the SAPS and the suspects with the Matrix Vehicle Tracking recovery team looking on. As the suspect, who was driving the stolen vehicle, tried to jump over the wall to escape he was shot and wounded in the leg and the hand.

The wounded suspect, vehicle and scene were handed over to SAPS Inspector Liebenberg from the Pretoria Flying Squad for further investigation.
