About MiX Telematics

Our Vision

To become the leading global provider of information for mobile assets. Through the groups' values and the people behind it, we are confident that our global presence will increasingly benefit all our customers as our customers are people, not vehicles!

Subscriber base

The combined installed subscriber base of the MiX Telematics group is in excess of 445 000 units.

Technology

Telematics is a description of using a combination of radio frequency, GSM and GPS technology as tools for tracking vehicles. Each of these technologies has advantages. Combining these advantages into one unit creates the ultimate tracking tool. A flow of data between mobile vehicles installed with a tracking unit and the receiving system takes place. The data is then decoded into understandable and meaningful information, which is used to track (position) a vehicle and to tell us what is happening with a vehicle at a specific point and time.

Fleet Managers can use the information to obtain different reports in order to manage their fleets more effectively and do their planning from. For vehicle tracking the information is used to tell MiX Telematics Africa where a vehicle - installed with a Matrix Vehicle Tracking unit - is in order to be able to recover the vehicle if necessary.

Our Reach

The MiX Telematics group has distribution capability on 6 continents and in over 75 countries. As far as vehicle tracking is concerned, the African division's head office is in Midrand, South Africa. History

Since 1996, Matrix Vehicle Tracking has grown to be known as the technological and personal safety leader as far vehicle tracking and recovery in the South African market is concerned. We now can share this expertise on a global basis!

Development

In October 2007, TeliMatrix, Matrix Vehicle Tracking's holding company, acquired Omnibridge - an international fleet management company with distribution capability on 6 continents and in over 75 countries. With the acquisition, Omnibridge brought with brands including DataTrak in the UK, Tripmaster in the USA and VDO Fleet Manager. A telematics giant was born!

After the acquisition, TeliMatrix listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange on 12 November 2007, under the share code "Mix". The listing was successful and we are excited and optimistic about the future of the group!

The group realised that it is important to have proper brand recognition on an international basis, and took its South African heritage into consideration.

The Result

From 1 September 2008, Matrix Vehicle Tracking went global with the group under a new name "MiX Telematics Africa (Pty) Ltd". MiX Telematics Africa incorporated the local distribution of the fleet management products, previously distributed by Omnibridge. The African division will represent the full suite of products, while Omnibridge will remain the technological hub and be responsible for international expansion. Omnibridge therefore renamed to "MiX Telematics International".

Customers can look forward to dealing with the same company and people. Our promise that the focus is on customers first has undoubtedly brought the group to the point where its expertise can now be shared on a global basis.

Our well established Matrix Vehicle Tracking brand will remain as the leading personal safety and security tracking unit brand. For companies and fleet managers our extended commercial solutions range will be known under the MiX Telematics brand.
