The MiX Telematics range of products and services is sold in over 110 countries and boasts an installed base of over 650 000 fleet management and vehicle tracking units worldwide. The group has offices in South Africa, the UK, the USA, the UAE and Australia and a global dealer network. MiX Telematics listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (under the short code MIX) in November 2007.

Technology
Telematics is a description of using a combination of radio frequency, GSM and GPS technology as tools for tracking vehicles. Each of these technologies has advantages. Combining these advantages into one unit creates the ultimate tracking tool. A flow of data between mobile vehicles installed with a tracking unit and the receiving system takes place. The data is then decoded into understandable and meaningful information, which is used to track (position) a vehicle and to tell us what is happening with a vehicle at a specific point and time.
Fleet Managers can use the information to obtain different reports in order to manage their fleets more effectively and do their planning from. For vehicle tracking the information is used to tell MiX Telematics Africa where a vehicle - installed with a Matrix Recovery Service unit - is in order to be able to recover the vehicle if necessary.

The MiX Telematics group has distribution capability on 6 continents and in over 110 countries. As far as stolen vehicle recovery is concerned, the African division's head office is in Midrand, South Africa. MiX Telematics has a strong growing base across Africa. Currently, the International division has offices in the United Kingdom, United States of America, Germany, and South Africa.
