In an emergency situation, time is of the essence. This is where FastTrac comes in, enabling MiX Telematics to position a stolen vehicle within 30 seconds. We do this by using the extensive cell phone network to track and locate vehicles quickly. Unlike other major tracking companies we can remotely locate a vehicle even if it is stationary.
X-Ray Vision (MX1, MX2, MX3 units)
What happens when a stolen vehicle is taken to an undercover area like a warehouse, transport-container, or underground parking garage where standard satellite technology detection is ineffective? With MiX Telematics you do not need to worry because we have X-Ray Vision. Our use of the cellular networks, amongst other technologies, allows us to triangulate a vehicle's position, even if it is parked in an underground parking

All our products are accepted by insurance companies.
Battery Back-up (MX1, MX2, MX3 units)
Each Matrix unit is fitted with its own back-up battery. When the vehicle's own battery is disconnected or runs flat the back-up battery in the unit is activated to facilitate tracking and recovery.
National Network Coverage (MX1, MX2, MX3 units)
As Matrix Vehicle Tracking units use GSM technology we can track your vehicle anywhere in the country where there is cell phone coverage.
24/7 National Control Centre (MX1, MX2, MX3 units)
The MiX Telematics National Control Centre in South Africa is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week including all public holidays.
Dedicated Recovery Teams (MX1, MX2, MX3 units)
MiX Telematics has recovery teams that are dedicated to the locating and recovery of our vehicles, we therefore do not solely rely on assistance from the South African Police Service.
Free Recovery (MX1, MX2, MX3 units)
Recovery of actual stolen or hijacked vehicles is free of charge (terms and conditions apply – see contract).
Confidence Checks (MX1, MX2, MX3 units)
Customers are able to contact the MiX Telematics Africa National Control Centre at any time to of the day to test a unit.
Auto-Test (MX2, MX3 units)
We do encourage all our customers to test their units monthly. At MiX Telematics Africa we also realise the realities of life, and therefore automatically test your unit, on your behalf, at least every 6 months. This way you have the assurance that your unit is in full working condition.
Internet Tracking (MX2, MX3 units)
Another great example of how MiX Telematics utilise technology to keep you safe. Internet tracking allows you to find your vehicle and loved ones at anytime of the day or night. With the MX2 or MX3 units, all you need is a computer and Internet connection.
Activating your Internet Tracking requires a simple online registration process. Thereafter you will be able to position your vehicle or view its last 10 positions. You will also receive the first 30 positions per vehicle per month for free.
Optional Panic Button (MX2, MX3 units)
This optional feature allows you to transmit a silent distress signal to the MiX Telematics Africa National Control Centre by pressing a well hidden button.
Battery Tamper Alarm (MX2, MX3 units)
Any attempt to disable or remove the battery of a vehicle fitted with a Matrix MX2 or MX3 unit will trigger an alarm at Matrix Vehicle Tracking.
Optional Ignition Tamper Alarm (MX2, MX3 units)
An alarm is connected to your MX2 unit that will notify the MiX Telematics Africa National Control Centre as soon as unauthorised tampering is detected with your vehicle's ignition.

GeoLoc (MX3 unit)
With GeoLoc you have the power to secure your vehicle whenever or wherever in South Africa you wish. By pressing a button on your cell phone, your unit is placed on alert and locked. Should you not unlock your unit and any unauthorised movement or tampering is detected, MiX Telematics Africa will receive a signal. After determining the situation, MiX Telematics Africa can then take the necessary steps to locate and recover your vehicle. NoGo-Zones (MX3 unit)
It is a well-known fact that there are certain high-risk areas in South Africa. These high-risk areas are called "NoGo-Zones". In the event of your vehicle fitted with a MX3 unit going into a NoGo-zone, MiX Telematics Africa will receive a signal alerting us about your vehicles' entering of a NoGo-Zone. After determining the situation, MiX Telematics Africa can start with the locating and recovery process of your vehicle if required. Sometimes people only realise their vehicle has been stolen long after it has happened. Even if you are not aware of it, you will have the peace of mind that your vehicle can be located and recovered with the NoGo-Zone feature
Crash Alert (MX3 unit)
Crash Alert is a pioneering feature in the tracking industry. When your vehicle, fitted with a MX3 unit, is in a serious accident, an alert signal will be received at the MiX Telematics Africa National Control Centre. Very importantly, this is a fully automated process. Even if you are not able to alert MiX Telematics Africa yourself, we will receive an alert signal. After determining the nature of the situation, MiX Telematics will send either medical assistance or roadside assistance to the scene. Using our PinPoint technology, we will know exactly where your vehicle is and will dispatch the necessary assistance directly to the scene.
The MX3 unit can be a real life-saving unit as it can act as your guardian and have the capability to "speak for you when you can not".
The Crash Alert function is only available on the MX3 unit. Existing MX3 customers without Crash Alert are able to request an upgrade to include the Crash Alert sensor at a minimal cost.

Tax Logbook (MX3 unit)
Whether for the purpose of annual tax claims or monthly evaluation of business travel, what could be easier than generating an electronic logbook as you drive: Once set-up, you can have a logbook generated at the press of a button. The logbook will contain the date, location and distance per trip, which can then either automatically or manually be identified as business or private trip.
Cell phone Positioning (MX3 unit)
Want to quickly check your vehicle's position without making a call or even logging on to the internet? Why not use Cell Phone Positioning? Once your cell phone number is registered with us, you will be able to send a SMS to your Matrix unit to enquire the whereabouts of your vehicle. You will receive a SMS back which will contain latitude and longitude co-ordinates of the vehicle, average speed and name of the closest cell phone tower at the time of requesting the vehicle's position.
Service Notification (MX3 unit)
With this feature, you can register your vehicle and the vehicle service centre of your choice. When your vehicle approaches a service interval, we will automatically notify you and your selected service centre. The notification will be sent via e-mail or fax. This way you do not have to worry about missing a service interval and affecting your vehicle warranty.
