- Matrix Vehicle Tracking is established and starts trading on 1 June 1996, holding company is TeliMatrix
1997
- Control Instruments (CI) OmniBridge established. Signs exclusive deal with Siemens VDO to design and develop the "Fleet Manager” product range, branded VDO and sold by Siemens worldwide.
- Matrix Vehicle Tracking seperates from Control Instruments end of September and becomes distributor of VDO Fleet Manager product range in South Africa.
2007
- May: Control Instruments acquires Siemens VDO UK Trading’s Fleet Division and gains access to Siemens VDO’s global distribution Network.
- October: TeliMatrix acquires OmniBridge and merges the business with Matrix Vehicle Tracking.
- November: TeliMatrix lists on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE).
2008
- April: TeliMatrix acquires Tripmaster Corporation
- July: TeliMatrix acquires SafeDrive International
- September: TeliMatrix renames to MiX Telematics. MiX = Mobile Information Exchange, signifying the birth of a new global leader.
