Personal Safety

Our Customer’s are PEOPLE, not vehicles; is a value that MiX Telematics Consumer lives for. This is why our features have been designed around the personal safety of our customer, over and above the vehicle’s safety.

Personal safety features provided include:

  • Internet Tracking*: Matrix Vehicle Tracking customers are now able to track their own vehicle by simply logging on to the web. This enables customers to locate their vehicle/loved one(s) anytime, anywhere!
  • Optional Panic Button*: This optional feature, allows you to transmit a distress signal to our National Operations Centre in the event of a hostile situation. Customers may also opt for a panic button to be fitted in their boot as there have been occasions when drivers have been abducted and locked in the boot of the vehicle.
  • PinPoint*: The use of GPS technology gives us the ability to get a very accurate or PinPoint position on our customers’ vehicles. In a life-threatening situation, this accurate position may prove to be of great value in assisting to save a life.
  • DID- Driver Identification Device*: Once a customer has parked their vehicle , should it move without the DID being present, a silent distress signal will be sent to our National Operations Centre. We will then contact the customer immediately and begin monitoring the vehicle's movements. If required, a recovery process is activated.
  • Crash Alert**: When a customer’s vehicle is involved in a major crash, an alert will be sent to or National Operations Centre informing them of the crash and its location.
  • Roadside Assistance**: If a customer’s vehicle breaks down, they simply need to press the Road Assistance button on their remote and a MiX Telematics Consumer representative will be in touch with them. Once the situation has been assessed, the representative will then contact our SOS partner to send the correct assistance to the customer’s exact GPS location.
  • NoGo-Zones**: It is a well-known fact that there are certain high risk areas in South Africa. We call these “NoGo-Zones”. In the event that a customer’s vehicle enters a NoGo-Zone, MiX Telematics Consumer will receive a signal. After confirming the status of the vehicle, if required, a recovery process is activated.
